Mahatma Gandhi’s real or full name is Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, and he was born on 2 October 1869 in Porbandar. And every year, this day is celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti in India.
Mahatma Gandhiji was an Indian lawyer, anti-colonial nationalist person. He died on January 30, 1948, one year after India’s independence. The day of Gandhiji’s assassination (January 30) is observed as the National Martyr’s day and National Holiday in India.
The ideals of Mahatmaji were Ahimsa (non-violence) and Satya (truth). He always gives a message to others that “Be the change you wish to see in the world”. He pursued law for one year at the University of Bombay. Later he completed his graduation in University College London in 1891.
Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday, on October 2, is observed as the International Day of Non-violence.
