EPF: What is Employee’s Provident Fund?

It is a social security initiative by Government of India. It acts as a saving scheme for the employees. The employee and the employer contribute an equal amount towards savings. It can be availed upon retirement or after switching jobs. This small contribution will help an employee. It will be used at older age or emergency situation.

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation has requested that nominations be added in EPF accounts. It is mandatory to add nominee to your EPF Account.

Account holders can add the nominee’s name and other data online at the EPFO’s official website. Here’s how to add a new nomination in your EPFO account online.

How to add a new nomination in EPF online?

  1. Log in to the UAN EPFO website.
  2. Select the Manage e-nomination tab.
  3. Click on Yes in accordance with the family declaration.
  4. Enter your nomination information within the Add family details area.
  5. Enter the nominee’s details like Aadhaar Number, Date of Birth, Gender, Relationship with the member, Address and also Bank details.
  6. Enter the share.
  7. Click on save EPF Nomination.
  8. To generate an OTP, click E-Sign.
  9. Submit the OTP provided to the Aadhaar-linked number.

Because of adding Nominee for your PF account, you can access the more advantages from EPFO.

How to change e-Nomination?

If a member wants to change his nomination, He must file a new nomination and e-sign it. The e-signing of the new nomination will replace the previous nomination with the new one.

You can check your EPF’s account balance online.

Note: This procedure is only for UAN activated Users

  • Log on to the EPFO portal.
  • Go to the tab ‘Our Services’ and choose the option “for employees” from the drop-down menu.
  • Now, Click on the “Member Passbook” Option from service tab

  • After that, you will redirect to Login Page and Enter your UAN & Password
  • After login now you can access your EPF account.

Check Balance of EPF account by Missed Call

You can inquire about your EPF balance by giving a missed call from your registered mobile number. 

  • Give a missed call to 011-22901406 from your registered mobile number.
  • After that, you will receive an SMS providing you with your PF details like balance and many more.
