The government has extended the Aadhaar PAN link deadline from March 31 to June 30, 2023, by three months. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has announced that all unlinked PAN cards will stop functioning as of July 1, 2023.
As we know PAN card is a very important document, it uses for many financial transactions, especially related to income tax and return filing. If your Pan card is not link with your Aadhar card then your Pan card will become useless.
According to the Income Tax department press release, “In order to provide some more time to the taxpayers, the date for linking PAN and Aadhaar has been extended to 30th June 2023, whereby persons can intimate their Aadhaar to the prescribed authority for Aadhaar-PAN linking without facing repercussions.”

How to link Pan-Aadhaar with penalty?
Individuals who want to link their PAN and Aadhar can follow the below steps. Note that before linking, Individuals has to pay the penalty of Rs 1000.
1. Visit e-Filing portal Home page and click on Link Aadhaar in Quick Links section.
2. Enter your PAN and Aadhaar Number.
3. Click on Continue to Pay Through e-Pay Tax.
4. Enter your PAN, Confirm PAN and Mobile number to receive OTP
5. Post OTP verification, you will be redirected to e-Pay Tax page.
6. Click on Proceed on the Income Tax tab.
7. Select AY as 2023-24 and type of Payment as Other Receipts (500) and click Continue.

After paying the fee, you can use the e-Filing Portal to link your Aadhar number to your PAN. Log in to the income tax website, then click Link Aadhar in the Profile Area under the Link Aadhar to PAN option.
The PAN card can be operational again after 30 days after informing the appropriate authority and paying a cost of Rs.1,000.
