Aadhaar Pan Link Status: The Central Government and the Income Tax Department have continuously reminded citizens to link their PAN card with Aadhar. If your Pan card is not link with your Aadhar card then your Pan card will become useless.

As we know PAN card is a very important document, it uses for many financial transactions, especially related to income tax and return filing.

According to the information on the Income tax e-filing website, the following categories of individuals are exempted from Aadhaar-PAN linking:

Non-Resident Indians (NRIs)
An individual who is not a citizen of India
Individuals aged above 80 years
Individuals who are residents of Assam, Meghalaya and Jammu & Kashmir.

How to check Aadhaar Pan Link status?

Aadhaar PAN Card Linking online can be complete by paying a fee of Rs 1000. Check out whether your Aadhar is link with PAN is an easy process and takes only a few steps.

1. Through SMS

Type “UIDPAN” followed by your 12-digit Aadhaar number and your Permanent Account Number.
Send the text message to 56161 or 567678.
You will receive a message regarding whether your Aadhaar and PAN are link or not.

2. Through the Income Tax e-filing website

Open website incometax.gov.in
Click on ‘Link Aadhaar Status’ option under the ‘Quick Links’ section.
Enter your Permanent Account Number and 12-digit Aadhaar number and select ‘View Link’.
Your Aadhar number will show on the screen if your PAN-Aadhar is link. Otherwise, you will have to link them.

Process to Link PAN and Aadhar

Open Income Tax e-filing portal and register yourself (if not done already). Your User ID will be your Permanent Account Number.
Log in using your PAN, date of birth and password.
Click on the ‘Link Aadhaar’ option.
Verify if the details mentioned on your PAN and Aadhaar are the same.
Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and click on the ‘link now” button.
Your Aadhaar and PAN will be linked.
