Dr Geoffrey Hinton, the ‘Godfather of AI’, has left Google & warns about dangers of future technology like machine learning.
The Godfather of AI, Hinton works on neural networks evolves the artificial intelligence systems powering many of today’s products. He worked part-time at Google for a decade on the AI technologies.
“The idea that this stuff could actually get smarter than people – a few people believed that,” Hinton said in an interview with The New York Times.

Dr Geoffrey Hinton, who built a neural network with his two students at the University of Toronto in 2012. Hinton’s research led the way for current systems like ChatGPT.
With massive boom of ChatGPT late last year most of the tech companies to develop and deploy similar AI tools in their products. OpenAI, Microsoft, and Google are at the forefront of this trend, but IBM, Amazon, Baidu, and Tencent are working on similar technologies.
On Monday, Hinton clarified his motivations for leaving Google. He wrote in a tweet: “In the NYT today, Cade Metz implies that I left Google so that I could criticize Google. Actually, I left so that I could talk about the dangers of AI without considering how this impacts Google. Google has acted very responsibly.”
